Public support has enabled lifeguards to reinstate the patrol tower at Muriwai Beach.
People were told last weekend to avoid the beach as lifeguards could not patrol it properly without the tower, which became unstable after a storm in September.
Muriwai Surf Life Saving Club had to stop work after finding itself short of $20,000 needed to repair the tower.
Club chairman Tim Jago said donations and offers of building materials had allowed them to finish the project.
