Public advised to avoid cordoned CBD area

Police are advising members of the public to avoid part of the central business district, while emergency services deal with "an incident".

Police - including negotiators - and emergency services are at Hobson Street and Custom Street West.

The area has been cordoned off for three hours and police are warning motorists to expect delays, especially around the Fanshawe Street intersections with Sturdee St and Customs St East.

A police spokeswoman earlier said the incident was on the Fanshawe St fly-over bridge.
