The man accused of abducting and injuring his former girlfriend on Great Barrier Island in January had a court appearance put off today because he is undergoing a psychiatric assessment.
Nathan Boulter, 21, unemployed of Riverton, Southland, was due to appear in Auckland District Court.
But court staff told NZPA that his appearance had been put back until next week while he underwent the psychiatric assessment.
Boulter faces a raft of charges including abducting and causing grievous bodily harm to ex-girlfriend Nortessa Montgomerie and hiding in a Great Barrier home with intent to commit a crime.
Ms Montgomerie disappeared while she was babysitting at her father's home on the island in January.
She was found after a massive police search.
