Prowler enters kids' bedrooms

Police are searching for a prowler who has been entering children's bedrooms in Hastings.

About 4.30am yesterday, a 10-year-old girl woke up to find a man in her room in Margate Ave, Flaxmere. He put his hand over her mouth but she was able to scream and he fled over a fence chased by her father and brother.

Soon after, a man entered a house in nearby Yarmouth Rd where three young girls aged 10 to 11 were sleeping. He spoke to one and exposed himself, police said.

The intruder is described as a Maori with a thick moustache and short curly hair, wearing a grey and black sweatshirt.
