The American flag was burned in front of the US consulate in Auckland yesterday as demonstrators protested against Israeli actions in Lebanon.
More than 150 protesters marched down Queen St in Auckland to the US consulate calling for Israel to stop its campaign in the Middle East. Protesters chanted: "Qana. Never again" in reference to the bombing in the Lebanese town where Lebanon says at least 54 civilians were killed. The protesters handed out leaflets that said: "The brave activists of Hamas and Hizbollah are freedom-fighters not terrorists."
The demonstration was part of a global protest against Israel's campaign. A public forum was held after the rally.
