Northland Polytechnic has written to Health Minister Annette King raising concerns about the Nursing Council's decision to change a nursing qualification midway through a course.
Polytechnic students studying for a one-year Certificate in Health Science had thought they would be entitled to call themselves enrolled nurses when they finished the course.
But the Nursing Council of NZ has decided that students completing the certificate will now be known as nurse assistants.
