A man has been arrested after a Auckland prostitute claimed she was abducted and sexually assaulted in the city early today.
Police said the woman got into a car in central Auckland about 4am today and was sexually assaulted by the driver.
Detective Sergeant Brett Batty said the man then refused to let her out of the car and drove around the city, making several threats to her.
He said when the car slowed the prostitute got out and called police with the car registration number.
A man was arrested soon afterwards and was due to appear in the Auckland District Court today.
He has been charged with unlawful sexual connection and faces further charges, Mr Batty said.
