Ten of Wairarapa's most promising netballers aged between 13 and 16 years are taking part in Netball Wellington's high performance programme.
This programme was designed with input from ex-Silver Fern and Wellington Shakers coach Waimarama Taumanu to raise the skills of the region's talented youngsters. It has meant the Wairarapa contingent travelling to Wellington where they have joined like players from other centres to develop their on
court skills as well as other aspects of their sport including proper training schedules and nutrition.
Amongst those offering them valuable advice have been fitness guru Hugh Biss, the trainer of probably the country's best-known Silver Fern in Irene Van Dyk and current Wellington NPC coach Barbara Bialy.
