KEY POINTS:
Police have recaptured escaped prisoner Debden Wamoana in Levin after 15 days on the run.
Wamoana, 26, was being taken from Manawatu Prison to Levin District Court on October 29, along with Jay Solomon, 18, when the pair forced open the van's back doors as it passed through Shannon.
Solomon was arrested a couple of days later but Wamoana, who was facing charges of serious assault, remained at large.
Police spokeswoman Kim Perks said a number of sightings of Wamoana had been reported over the last two days.
About 3.30pm yesterday police arrested Wamoana at a house in Awatea Street, Levin without incident.
He will appear at Levin District Court this afternoon to face charges of escaping and burglary.
