Police recaptured prisoner Eru Andrew Stevens last night as he strolled down Queen St after a meal at the Methodist City Mission and two days of liberty.
Remand prisoners Stevens, aged 35, and Jason Dempster, 27, escaped from a security van outside the Auckland District Court about 8.30 on Monday morning.
Dempster was still at large last night.
