Prince William has spent the late morning at Auckland War Memorial to commemorate Anzac Day, before travelling to Christchurch this afternoon.
The Duke of Cambridge was accompanied by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Auckland Mayor Phil Goff as he arrived for the 11am service.
Heavily armed police - including at least one sniper on the museum roof - patrolled the Auckland Domain.
On behalf of his grandmother the Queen, William placed a wreath on the war memorial cenotaph outside the museum in the Auckland Domain.
This afternoon he heads to Christchurch in a visit focused on the royal family support in the aftermath of the March 15 mosque shootings. He will visit the Justice and Emergency Services Precinct today.
