Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have sent a message to all New Zealanders affected by this week's devastating 7.8 magnitude quake.
In a message sent by Clarence House to the NZ Governor General, Prince Charles acknowledged they were saddened by the news.
"Having heard the dreadful news of the devastating damage caused by the recent severe earthquakes, my wife and I just wanted you to know how deeply we feel for all New Zealanders at such a very difficult time for so many.
"Our hearts go out to those who have so tragically lost their loved ones and to all those whose properties have been so badly affected by this appalling disaster.''
The message was released online and posted on the NZ Governor General's official social media sites late this afternoon.
