Prince Andrew will visit New Zealand next month and will open Nelson's Battle of Trafalgar bicentenary celebrations.
Prime Minister Helen Clark today announced the Duke of York will visit New Zealand after a trip to Melbourne.
Prince Andrew will be in New Zealand for four days, arriving on September 28 and leaving on October 2.
He will arrive in Nelson on October 1 to open Nelson's Trafalgar 200 celebrations.
Helen Clark confirmed today that while in Nelson on October 1, Prince Andrew would attend a short dedication for the new $70,000 west end windows at the Christ Church Cathedral at 2.30pm.
The prince, who is Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal New Zealand Army Logistics Regiment, will also visit a training exercise by members of the regiment in Nelson.
During his visit to New Zealand, Prince Andrew will also inspect regimental training activities at Linton military camp near Palmerston North, visit Trentham Military Camp, attend a diplomatic corps dinner at Government House, hosted by the Governor-General, and lay a wreath at the national war memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Wellington.
