The Queen's second son and the fourth in line to the British throne. was due to leave New Zealand today after a week-long visit.
Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, arrived in Auckland last Wednesday for a round of official engagements and dinners.
He met government officials, British and New Zealand trade officials and visited defence bases. He also presented the family of a Maori soldier denied a Victoria Cross for bravery with a special commendation and ceremonial sword from his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Lance Sergeant Haane Manahi was recommended for a VC by four generals for his bravery in North Africa but it was downgraded to a Distinguished Conduct Medal in the War Office in England.
Prince Andrew, who spent 22 years in the Royal Navy as an aviator, was also presented with a taiaha (Maori weapon) at a visit to the Devonport Naval Base in Auckland.
Yesterday he was keynote speaker at a trade and investment seminar before he attended the International Downs Syndrome Day function in Auckland, inspected a boat building yard and went for a spin on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour in a power boat.
He had no official functions organised for today before he was due to leave from Auckland at 2pm.
