Prime Minister Bill English and Labour leader Jacinda Ardern face quick-fire questions

The Prime Minister is a fan of the television show Suits and knows the price of milk. Jacinda Ardern prefers dark crime dramas and spends less on a dinner out.

Bill English and Ardern answered a series of quick-fire questions after their PM Job Interview with a panel of NZME journalists this week.

English was near spot-on when asked the cost of a litre of milk - his answer was $2.30, and Homebrand at Countdown costs $2.33.

Ardern was further out at $3.50, although she added a disclaimer that she may have paid that for two litres.

Asked for their favourite Netflix show, English nominated Suits, the drama set in a New York law firm and starring Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle and Gabriel Macht.

Ardern said the last show she watched was gritty crime drama The Killing. "I watch bad crime shows," she explained.

Asked what an average meal out with their partner costs, Ardern said about $60. English spends about $100, given "we don't do it that often".

Ardern: "Studious."

English: "Leader of the Labour Party. Potential Prime Minister. Have to beat them."

2. How much does a litre of milk cost?

Ardern: "Last one I got was $3.50ish. But that might have been 2L actually."

English: "About $2.30."

3. What do you want your grandkids to remember you for?"

Ardern: "Caring. And being able to cook biscuits."

English: "Just being a nice granddad."

4. If you go out with your partner, what does an average meal out cost you?

Ardern: "In total - about $60."

English: "Well. We don't do it that often so it would probably cost us, I don't know, about $100."

5. What's your favourite Netflix show?

Ardern: "The last one I picked up, I think, was called The Killing. I watch bad crime shows."

English: "Suits."

6. Favourite MP from the other team?

Ardern: "Chester Borrows."

English: "I think everyone's favourite was Annette King."

7. What makes you turn off your phone?

Ardern: "Sleep."

English: "I turn it off for some time most days, particularly to talk to my family."
