Rotorua Primary School has a new attraction -- an active geyser.
The geyser exploded into life in the school grounds yesterday.
The Fire Service said it was lucky the geyser didn't blow on a school day.
Principal John Naera said the explosion was in an area which was fenced off because it was most likely to be prone to geothermal activity.
Geothermal experts planned to cool the heat source down, he said.
