Each week Ted Dooley and his wife Liz visit RSA veterans in hospital -- something they have been doing for the past 30 years.
The couple have been married for 54 years.
Mr Dooley, 82, said he started doing hospital visits because he was an ex-serviceman and it was important to honour the men who fought for our freedom.
Mr Dooley is a life member and committee member of the Tauranga RSA and is a trustee for the Welfare Trust for the organisation. The Dooleys are regular collectors for the poppy appeal.
They also help out with other organisations that struggle to get volunteers, including the Red Cross, St John and the Cancer Society.
