KEY POINTS:
This coming Saturday, August 9, will be a day all classic car lovers should mark in their diary. Turners Auctions are holding their fourth Classic and Prestige auction for the year.
For existing collectors, or those starting from scratch, there will be something to take their fancy. A quick glance at the growing list (on the Turners Auction website) will illustrate just how many and varied the cars on offer will be.
There is a genuine 1971 Shaker XY Falcon through to a Triumph TR6 as well as a TR7, and a range of AMG Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Also on display are some of the most modern and technologically advanced cars including an Aston Martin, Porsche and Lexus and everything in between.
At least 10 entries in the prestige line-up will be repossessions on behalf of various finance companies. The official entry list includes the following marques: AMG, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Dodge, Ford, Holden, Jaguar, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Plymouth, Pontiac, Porsche, Saab and Triumph.
Among the older treasures on offer is a black Ford Deluxe Sedan. It was first registered in 1940 to the Wairarapa South County Council and still has the original papers. The V8 has been beautifully restored and would be an asset to any collection.
The 1971 Ford Falcon XY GT Shaker is original and in excellent condition.
The four-speed manual still has the original electric blue paint, only has 61,000 miles on the clock and will be very popular and sought after.
There will also be a 1973 XA GT351 on offer.
Another taste of a bygone era is a 1973 TR6 Convertible in original condition. The car looks the part in red with black trim. A younger member of the Triumph sports car family up for grabs is a TR7, also in red, which has been fitted with a Rover V8 engine.
Alongside these classics will be much sought after prestige vehicles such as a rare and desirable 1999 Mercedes C43 AMG - a high-performance model with a 4.3-litre V8 engine.
It has been well-maintained and looked after and is finished in silver with black leather interior. It has a premium Bose sound system and complete service history.
Or you could bid on a 2006 Mercedes S500, also in brilliant silver with anthracite leather, which has travelled just 48,000km.
And for those looking for something a little sportier, there is a 2004 V6 3.2-litre Chrysler Crossfire. This five-speed car is silver with black leather upholstery.
This will be an all-in auction which will be different from the Turners Prestige auction held in June. On Saturday, classic and prestige cars will all be auctioned at 2.30pm following the regular auction.
Past auctions have garnered up to 400 registered bidders with a high percentage of the cars selling either under the hammer or by negotiation afterwards. If you are in the wider Auckland area, you can check out the auction online with Turners Live.
