The pressure will be their opposition when Anderson Meats Wairarapa United meet Tawa in a Capital premier division match at Tawa tomorrow.
Whereas Wairarapa United can do no better than third on the competition table Tawa are just one point behind leaders Petone with just two series of matches still to be played.
And with Petone meeting the much improved Waterside-Karori tomorrow, a win over Wairarapa United could give Tawa the inside running for the premier division title and promotion to the central league in 2007.
It's a scenario which provides a royal opportunity for Wairarapa United to claim an important scalp before the season's end, and coach Phil Keinzley believes they are quite capable of spoiling the Tawa party.
For while he respects Tawa for the consistency they have shown all season, he is adamant that Wairarapa United have greater all-round strength.
"They (Tawa) do have a couple of players who are real quality and we have to keep an eye on them, but when you look at the two teams in entirety we'd have the edge," he said.
Whether Fijian international Petero Dauniseka will be recovered sufficiently from an ankle injury to play tomorrow was not known at the time these notes were penned, but otherwise Wairarapa United will be at full strength.
The Wairarapa United seconds have an important match on their hands tomorrow when they play Wellington United at Howard Booth Park in Carterton, kicking off at 12.30pm. Wairarapa United are in with a chance of winning the Capital third division competition, but victory here is an absolute must if their title hopes are to be sustained.
