More than a third of people are working more hours now than they were just three years ago - and their health and personal lives may be the worse for it, a survey has found.
The survey on the pressures of work, commissioned by the Listener magazine, found 30 per cent of men and 25 per cent of women said work pressure was adversely affecting their personal relationships.
One-third of those who responded said the daily grind was adversely affecting their health. But despite these effects on health and happiness, as many as 70 per cent of people said they sometimes took work home.
Details of the survey feature in the latest Listener, which goes on sale tomorrow.
The report says many workers feel increasing demands from employers and the relentless flow of information weigh heavily.
