Kerry Prendergast has successful gained a second term as mayor of Wellington.
Preliminary results have now come to hand, however exact figures are unlikely to be known until Tuesday.
Kerry Prendergast said she has had a great three years in her first term as mayor and she is looking forward to continuing in the top job.
She said the vote shows that Wellingtonians appreciate the growth in their economy and other major achievements in the last three years.
The Christchurch firm compiling the results for the local body elections has announced the results will be further delayed.
The firm says there have been huge delays, particularly with the District Health Boards.
They intend to release results all through the night.
Dunedin still does not know who its new mayor is and probably won't until sometime tomorrow.
The Dunedin City Council has closed up shop for the night so no results will be released before work starts again around 7.30 in the morning.
