A public relations company has been hired to help find a name for a new southern Hawkes Bay primary school.
As well as developing ideas for a name, the chosen company would work on a motto, crest and sport uniform for the Dannevirke school.
The unanimous decision to employ the company was made at a board overseeing the merged Dannevirke North and Hillcrest Schools. Board chairwoman Deidre Stephens said she expected criticism over spending the money on coming up with a name, but said the targeted funding was for costs involved in setting up a new school, not for such things as school buildings.
