Many elderly people and beneficiaries will have difficulty paying the increased electricity lines charges threatened by the Commerce Commission, lobby groups say.
Auckland Grey Power Association president Jens Meder said the threat came on top of rate rises that translated to rent increases for some people.
Combined Beneficiaries Union president Helen Capel said even a small increase could cause budget blowouts for her members.
