A website dedicated to helping Kiwis get the best deal on power prices has seen a "huge spike" in visits this week.
Consumer New Zealand's powerswitch service allows people to work out which power company and pricing plan is best for them based on their latest bill.
"We usually get 750 hits a day, but it went up this week to well over 2000," said Consumer chief executive Sue Chetwin.
Consumer's online manager, Andrew Leggott said many people were paying more for power than they needed to. "There can be quite large savings to be made."
