Hundreds of homes across the North Island remain without power this morning as the clean-up continues following this week's wild weather.
Around 1000 Rotorua properties were without electricity this morning after high winds and heavy rain caused a number of faults on Unison's network, company spokesperson Danny Gough said.
Many properties may not have power reconnected until tomorrow night, he said.
"The weather has brought down power poles and lines across the network in Taupo and now Rotorua. We have committed all available resources to restoring the network but the scale of damage will take time to repair.
Around 7000 properties in the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Manawatu lost electricity from around 9pm last night.
