Power has been fully restored to Howick, but residents are being asked to minimise their consumption during the peak period of 6pm to 8pm.
More than 10,000 households experienced an electricity blackout in Howick after underground cables were damaged this afternoon.
Pressure on the area's electricity supply during peak usage, from 6pm to 8pm, could cut power from more people in the area, Vector said.
