Power has been restored to all the homes hit by the tail end of Cyclone Funa.
Powerco network operations manager Ross Dixon praised the team of 100 field staff who "put in a huge effort" over the last two days, getting the power back on for 16,000 homes in the lower North Island.
He also thanked everyone affected by the power cuts for their patience and support.
The outages began on Tuesday when winds of up to 130km/h damaged power lines.
By around midnight Powerco had reconnected about 15,500 homes and began working to repair individual lines to the remaining 500, scattered from Taranaki to Wairarapa.
Mr Dixon said most of the damage was caused by trees and broken branches and urged people to keep their lines clear.
