KEY POINTS:
Some people in the New Plymouth suburb of Bell Block are still without power after a truck hit powerlines about midday today.
Powerco Network operations manager Ross Dixon said around 700 customers were initially affected.
The accident happened around midday and the power was turned off around 12.40pm so repairs could be made.
"Supply was restored for most of the affected customers by 1.30pm. Final repairs were expected to be completed by late afternoon when power would be restored for a handful of customers who were still without power."
Mr Dixon said the truck was carrying a very high load which hit the powerlines and broke a power pole.
The lines also got tangled in the accident.
No one was injured.
