Parts of Waikato will be without power today as urgent repairs are carried out on the Transpower network.
The company said annual maintenance checks revealed a problem with the transmission line, which feeds power to the Hinuera area, earlier this week.
Urgent repairs would be carried out between 9am and 3pm today to fix the "hotspot" problem, ensuring continued supply of electricity to the area, Transpower said.
Areas affected include Hinuera, Tirau, Putaruru and some parts of Matamata.
"We advise residents in these areas to treat all transmission lines as live at all times as power could be restored at any time during the course of the outage," Transpower said.
