Around 2000 homes in the Auckland suburbs of Mt Eden and Epsom are without power after a line failure.
Vector spokeswoman Helen Kerr said the fault happened around 4:45pm this afternoon and while she could not confirm its exact cause, Ms Kerr said line failures are normally due to bad weather.
Kerr said power will be restored to most homes in the next 30 minutes but a small pocket will have to wait until the line is repaired.
She could not give an exact time of when this would happen, but said Vector staff were en route to the faulty line on Ferry Hill Rd in Epsom and were delayed by heavy traffic.
