Power lines down in Massey, cutting power to 1700 homes

Thousands of people in the Auckland suburb of Massey have had their electricity cut off tonight because of power-line damage.

Vector was advised of the fault just before 9.30pm. More than 1700 houses are affected, according to the power company's website.

A Vector staff member said several power lines were down but "there might be other faults as well".

"We don't have any solid updates yet."

Power should be restored before 12.30am, she said.
