Power was cut to 400 Masterton customers this morning, lines company Powerco said.
Service was restored to most within an hour, but 100 customers in central Masterton were still without power at 2pm.
Some businesses and retail outlets were affected.
Powerco said it hoped to restore power to all affected customers by 4pm today.
The reason for the outage was unknown.
