With just three days to go before electoral rolls close for printing, 204,000 people have still not registered to vote.
The Electoral Enrolment Centre says nearly 2.8 million people have enrolled, making up 93.2 per cent of New Zealand's total voting population.
Enrolments are lagging in Auckland Central, Dunedin North and Wellington Central.
Enrolment centre manager Murray Wicks is hopeful many more will sign up before election day. Voters enrolled after 5pm on Wednesday, however, will need to cast special declaration votes, which take longer.
"More people are turning their minds to the need to enrol, but there are still large numbers who haven't filled in an enrolment form," Mr Wicks said.
It's not too late. To enrol, call 0800 36 76 56, freetext your name and address to 3676, drop into a PostShop or visit www.elections.org.nz for a form. Details can be checked at www.elections.org.nz, your local library or PostShop.
