Westport Postie Plus workers are bracing themselves for a decision on whether they will lose their jobs.
Postie Plus has been considering moving its warehousing from Westport to Christchurch.
The listed clothing company's Westport-based warehousing has been in operation for 25 years.
Postie moved its Schooltex uniforms business and its initial distribution of stock to Christchurch in November.
Thirty-three workers will lose their jobs if the warehouse moves.
National Distribution Union southern regional secretary Paul Watson said the whole community was waiting for the decision.
"Westport is sensitive to job losses and there's huge concern that every job lost is another nail in the coffin to the local economy."
Mr Watson said the West Coast Development Trust offered to build a new warehouse for the company if it made an eight to 10 year commitment to stay in the town.
