Posters will be going up in Wellington city bars, police stations, trains, and ACC and DHB offices to help woman in abusive relationships get the help they need.
The poster is based on the 12 red flags used by police to determine the risk of homicide to a person.
Wellington district community policing manager Inspector Karen Smith the idea was to inform women of what behaviour constituted family violence.
"So many people know family violence is not okay, but lots of people are unsure about what's not okay, and that is things like being scared, being stalked, being controlled or threatened, strangled, choked or fearing for your life."
Police attend nearly double the number of family violence callouts over the Christmas period.
