Police saw an increase in domestic violence following the All Blacks' win against the Wallabies last night.
Central communications shift commander Mark Oliver said it was the "sad reality" of New Zealand culture.
"There's too much alcohol, people get on the turps on big game nights," he said.
"Then mum's a bit sad in the morning when she goes to buy bread or milk and there's no money left."
Mr Oliver said police normally saw an increase in domestic violence call-outs when there were big matches.
