Post, parked car slammed

A car smashed into a parked car outside the Greytown Four Square supermarket on Monday about 5pm.

It also damaged a veranda post outside the supermarket and the front of both cars were damaged.

A supermarket worker was alerted only when someone ran inside and raised the alarm.

"All of a sudden someone came in and said 'Call an ambulance'."

She said a lot of people were gathered around the scene.

Greytown's chief fire officer Harry Howard believed the occupant received only minor injuries.

"The sole occupant was out of the vehicle on our arrival and assessed by ambulance."

Greytown firefighters diverted southbound traffic via East St for about 45 minutes and northbound traffic was also briefly diverted for 10 minutes while Wairarapa Tow cleared the two vehicles.

At the time of print, Times-Age was not able to confirm with police the cause of the crash.
