A post-mortem will be carried out this morning to determine how a man found in a road construction site in Hamilton yesterday died.
The man's body was found by road construction workers as they turned up for work at the site between Tramway and Carrs roads in Chartwell about 7.15am.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall of the Waikato CIB said the man's body was removed from the scene yesterday afternoon and an extensive scene examination of the area continues today.
"There is a large area needing to be forensically examined and while that continues a post-mortem will be carried out in Auckland this morning, this should give a clear indication of how the man died."
Mr Keall said a maroon four-door Mitsubishi Galant, registration number CTP208, sedan located a short distance from where the man's body was found was a focus for the enquiry team.
"To that end we would like to hear from anyone who recalls seeing that vehicle from Wednesday afternoon through to early Thursday morning or who heard or saw anything unusual in the area where the man's body was found."
Anyone with information on who the man came to be in the construction zone should contact the enquiry team at the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200, or alternatively information can be left anonymously on the Crimestoppers crimeline 0800 555111.
