KEY POINTS:
The post-mortem to establish how a woman died in cells at Dunedin Central Police Station yesterday afternoon has been completed.
However, Dunedin area commander Inspector Dave Campbell said the results were being given to the coroner and would only be made public later as part of that process.
"We can't go into details or be specific because the Coroner's Act says we are not to make it public," he said.
The Police Complaints Authority is also investigating.
Juanita Maria Shaw, 36, of Dunedin, was found not breathing by police at about 1.30pm. Police say she had been checked about 1pm and had no apparent health problems.
Shaw was due to appear in Dunedin District Court facing charges including driving while disqualified, theft and unlawful taking.
She was known to mental health authorities and was on medication, although Mr Campbell would not specify what type.
She was in a cell by herself.
