Police investigating the fatal stabbing of an Oamaru teenager have found a knife.
The weapon was found late Saturday and was "of interest to the investigation", Detective Sergeant Malcolm Inglis said.
William Peter Lewis, 16, was stabbed on Thursday night after an altercation with another 16-year-old boy on the corner of Thames St and Exe St. They pair knew each other but were not friends.
Mr Inglis said the knife had not yet undergone forensic examination and other weapons could not be ruled out.
Anyone in the area who recalled or found anything unusual should contact police immediately, he said.
A 16-year-old was yesterday charged with the murder and remanded to a youth facility in Palmerston North.
He will appear again in the Youth Court Palmerston North next Friday.
