Port of Napier faces international industrial action as 85 workers begin a fight to keep their jobs, their union says.
About 25 permanent and 60 casual staff at Hawke's Bay Stevedoring Services have been threatened with job losses after a container stevedoring contract was awarded to Mt Maunganui-based International Stevedoring Operations.
Maritime Union general secretary Trevor Hanson said yesterday a meeting of unionists from all New Zealand ports and some from the Maritime Union of Australia this week planned a "major fightback".
