The latest Porsche 911 Turbo will arrive in New Zealand later in the year with ground-breaking ceramic brakes, headlights that automatically adjust for distance, sensors that learn to read the driver's mind - and a price tag of about $320,000.
The ceramic brakes are 50 per cent lighter, provide more consistent friction and have a longer life-expectancy than standard brakes.
The lights give a whole new meaning to "seeing in the dark" and the sensors, linked to the engine-management system, learn to anticipate driver input: is he or she smooth or rough and ready?
This sensor technology is nothing new. But Porsche, being Porsche, has probably made it just that much better.
The 911 Turbo is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.6-litre, six-cylinder engine producing 309kW at 6000 rpm and 560Nm of pulling power between 2700 and 4600 rpm. It is mated to either a six-speed manual or clutchless Tiptronic transmission.
Top speed? 303 km/h, your honour.
