Taranaki war veterans have soundly rejected porn king Steve Crow's bid to run their affairs.
Crow and his brother, Inglewood builder David Crow, bought the financially troubled New Plymouth RSA's clubrooms last year for $1.9 million.
He followed this move with the announcement he would stand for the organisation's presidency to prevent another person, whom he would not name, getting the job.
However, he withdrew his bid two days before the weekend vote, as that person was no longer standing.
Crow put his name forward for three other committee positions but was the lowest polling candidate in each, The Taranaki Daily News reported.
Immediately following the voting, Mr Crow and his brother David dramatically chucked in their RSA membership and walked out of the meeting.
"Yes, I resigned my membership. It was a display of frustration really," he said later.
Mr Crow and his brother plan a $20 million residential and commercial development on the RSA land.
He said his membership resignation would not change those plans, although he was unable to say when these would start.
