Police have referred four Porirua businesses to the Liquor Licensing Authority, following a controlled purchase operation at the weekend.
On Friday night, Porirua police teamed up with Regional Public Health and the District Licensing Authority, visiting 17 premises around the city.
A 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old female volunteer were able to buy alcohol from three on-licence premises and one off-licence, a supermarket.
"It's disappointing that we had four out of 17 premises visited flouting the law, given the amount of education and awareness there is about selling alcohol to minors," Senior Sergeant Stephen Sargent said.
"All four premises have been referred to the Liquor Licensing Authority for further action."
