A Masterton schoolboy band have landed a "plum gig" as opening act of The Datsuns.
The Wairarapa College band Back To The Remedy, made up of Zac Emerson, 17, Hayden Warren, 16, Jake Schdroski, 16, and Jessie Brown, 16, are fronting for The Datsuns event at King Street Live on September 2.
Just another success for this new breed Kiwi band raised on a heady mix of rock, pop and dance who have won the inter-schools' Smokefreerockquest three times and taken out second spot this year in the competition.
Publicity manager Mark Rogers said they had meshed these influences to come up with a solid set of "hard-hitting melodic gems delivered with the kind of sonic punch that belies their age".
In addition to winning the school competition this group has recorded their debut extended play CD under the watchful eye of Warren Maxwell at Stone Feather studios and as part of the Play it Strange project they have been mentored by former Split Enz member and music legend Mike Chunn.
