The leisure pool at Genesis Recreation Centre has been drained and contractors were at work fixing the tiling yesterday.
The pools have been closed to public since Monday and are expected to be re-opened by May 6.
Masterton District Council parks and recreation manager Grant Hathaway said there have beensome minor cuts recorded as a result of sharp tile edges or broken tiles in the leisure pool recently.
The cause of the issue is the grout deteriorating which in turn has caused some tiles to crack and others to have sharp edges between the joins.
"The facility has been making 'in-water' temporary repairs as a result of this to eliminate any identified hazards. A staff member goes into the pool on a regular basis to identify any sharp areas to minimise any potential risk to users," he said.
"The current shutdown allows the pool to be completely drained of water and the tiles inspected closely and replaced as required. The grouting is also being replaced, thus making a permanent fix to the current issue across the pool as a whole."
Contractors Designer Court was undertaking the tiling work.
