Ponsonby streets closed over gas

Several streets in the Auckland suburb of Ponsonby were closed shortly after midday when a contractor broke a gas main.

Two fire appliances remained on standby near Surrey Crescent and Browning St until Vector turned the gas supply off and the pipe was repaired.

Police said no one was hurt.
