Ponsonby pedestrian dies after being hit by car

A pedestrian hit by a car in the Auckland suburb of Ponsonby yesterday died in Auckland Hospital early today.

Nicole Christine Mace, 37, a landscape designer from Grey Lynn, was hit by a car at 10.30am as she crossed Ponsonby Road outside the Ponsonby fire station yesterday.

Firefighters rushed to the woman's aid until a doctor arrived from a nearby accident and emergency clinic.

Police said the Auckland serious crash unit in Ponsonby still wanted to hear from anyone who saw Mrs Mace hit by the Nissan Skyline car.
