NZ First: Opposes privatisation of roads. Upgrade highway-serving ports, improve rural roads, reduce cost-benefit ratio for new roading projects. Bring back special traffic police.
National: Still consulting over its plans to run roads commercially with higher petrol prices, offset by lower rates. Promises to maintain roading network and not privatise roads.
Act: Rejects public transport as solution to transport crisis. Would build more roads, paid for by motorists through tolls. Supports second harbour crossing for Auckland.
