KEY POINTS:
Both main TV channels ran polls predicting a National victory in last night's bulletins.
TV3 put National at 46 per cent, with Labour's vote collapsing to just over 33 per cent. The Greens were at 9 per cent and NZ First on 3.4 per cent.
Act had 2.8 per cent, a result which would return Sir Roger Douglas to Parliament. The Maori Party was on 2.7 but was expected to win at least four electorate seats - probably five.
Based on TV3's poll, National would have 59 seats, Act four, and Peter Dunne one. The majority of 64 would be enough to govern.
But like the Herald's DigiPoll survey, Labour would have a slim chance if NZ First won a seat or climbed over the 5 per cent threshold.
TV One's Colmar Brunton poll had National steady on 47 per cent and Labour 12 points behind on 35 per cent.
The poll also put the Greens on 9 per cent and Act at 2.5 per cent. NZ First was 2.4 per cent, the Maori Party only 1.3 per cent on the party vote.
TV One said that even with the Maori Party onside, Helen Clark would only be able to muster 60 seats - two seats short of the majority which is required to govern. National would have 58 seats. Adding three from Act and one from United Future would give a National-led government a majority with 62 seats.
